Mandated by the Vancouver Board of Education (formerly known as the Vancouver School Board), Vancouver schools must submit a School Plan (a working document that contains a Mission Statement and School Goals) prior to the beginning of each academic year. For this working document to be embraced, it is essential that all stakeholders/key players contribute to its development and evolution. Simply stated, the input into this working document from all the stakeholders (teachers, administrators, students, and parents) is not only vital, but valued greatly. Embracing this working document as a group, these stakeholders can take pride in the fact that their collective vision is helping to ensure the highest quality learning experiences for all students.
When discussing the relevance of School Goals for a school community, it is important to ascertain whether or not such goals meet the needs of this diverse student population. Over time, the ever-changing nature of schools’ student populations brings with it the necessity to change/alter School Goals accordingly.
As Point Grey Secondary examines its own working document of School Goals, the sharing/exchanging/documentation of ideas (including suggestions for changes to this document) is fundamentally important.
Having clearly stated our collective responsibility, it is important that we value the contributions of all team members as we embark on this journey together. For the 2010-2011 school year, Point Grey Secondary School’s School Plan document will be comprised of a compilation of ideas from all the key players.
Below is the Point Grey Secondary School School Plan for 2009 - 2010.

We are committed to supporting and teaching a diverse group of students to learn, to critically reflect, and to care for themselves and others as they prepare to find their place in the world.
Goal 1: To enhance opportunities for all students and encourage respectful interaction within the school community, focusing on areas of inclusion, leadership, and responsibility.
Goal 2: To foster student awareness of the environment on a personal, local, and global level and to encourage involvement in protecting and sustaining our environment
The School Planning Council invites the input of all community members, including parents, into the formulation of the 2010 - 2011 School Plan. Please add your comments below and press the button to share your comments with the SPC.
